However, my goal for the poll was to have fun. Therefore, I think you found a feature.

BenBen Simohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11448600123169359955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414482498098790205.post-63499816860000308152007-12-05T21:27:00.000-07:002007-12-05T21:27:00.000-07:00I see you have a poll about software testing. I no...I see you have a poll about software testing. I notice that the poll only lets me vote once. So, I cleared my cookies and voted five more times.

That's why there are 6 more votes for "testing is dull": because testing is fun.

-- JamesJames Marcus Bachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09985950531079499844noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414482498098790205.post-43508387014258990042007-12-04T22:12:00.000-07:002007-12-04T22:12:00.000-07:00Eric,I 'found' these quotes in many books, article...Eric,

I 'found' these quotes in many books, articles, and interactions with some of the sources. I am glad that I did not find a pre-compiled list. The search is all part of the fun and learning.

I am not sure how you one can agree with each quoted thinker. There are some contradictory statements that are not just a difference of context. ... or maybe others see some relative context differences that I don't.

Studying testing should help make us more effective testers. There is an infinite number of things that we can do to test. The challenge is to find the bugs that matter quickly.

Cheers,

BenBen Simohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11448600123169359955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-414482498098790205.post-75643988337713052082007-12-03T13:44:00.000-07:002007-12-03T13:44:00.000-07:00Ben, please tell me you found this compiled list o...Ben, please tell me you found this compiled list of quotes somewhere. If not, I can't imagine how long it took to collect these.

After reading these, I must say, I am quite inspired by all the great thinkers in our field. And yes, I found myself agreeing with each. Which makes me wonder if there is something wrong with me. But it also makes me wonder if we should spend less time describing testing and more time testing. After all, think of all the tests I could have executed in the time it took me to read these quotes (not to mention the time it took you to post them)!

Nevertheless. Great Post.
